Boonkit Purt

Dr. Boonkit Purt is a board-certified ophthalmologist and vitreoretinal surgeon specializing in the management of complex retinal diseases and ocular trauma. He currently serves as the Vice President of the American Society of Ophthalmic Trauma (ASOT), where he helps lead national initiatives to advance the care of patients with eye injuries. At Peak Retina, Dr. Purt provides subspecialty consultations and surgical care for conditions including diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, retinal detachment, macular holes, and complications related to blunt or penetrating trauma.
Dr. Purt earned his medical degree from the Northeast Ohio Medical University followed by an ophthalmology residency at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. He completed his fellowship training in vitreoretinal surgery at the Kellogg Eye Center at the University of Michigan, where he gained advanced expertise in the latest surgical techniques and medical retina therapies. Dr. Purt has served both domestically and in deployment settings, contributing to military readiness and the treatment of service members with complex ocular conditions.
He remains actively involved in clinical education, trauma system development, and professional collaboration. Dr. Purt is a member of the American Society of Retina Specialists (ASRS) and the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO). His leadership in ophthalmic trauma reflects his long-standing commitment to service, surgical excellence, and multidisciplinary care.
